In Chain
Suffering of Prometehan Man in Chain
At the night,
When the mind bids farewell to the light in the height,
It surrenders to the doubts and incinerates into ashes in the fire of itself,
I do not know what I ought choose,
Amazed and confused as I try to overcome the weakness of the mind that tries to convince me about God's solemn march on Earth,
Doubts split my heart,
In order to escape the puzzle,
As I try to loosen the chains around the feet quivering in pain and wound,
The hollow sphere, that keeps the clouds bound,
Bends over my head and threatens to bury me in the darkness covering the ground.
When like a proud, revengeful titan I wish to rebel,
I only surrender to myself,
After committing abundant errors and being exhausted in foolish toils that free nothing,
Through agony and pain I only endure an unceasing
self-contempt.
The times when I wish to surrender to free me from this blind chaos,
In supreme wilderness, in endless delusions,
Try to overcome the misery, the pain of the living and the dying by sacrificing my will as a slave,
I enter a realm of dream,
Where shapeless figures wander by,
A phantasm rising out of the darkness of the mind drags the soul, tramples the body, and makes me prostrate,
Like a merciless world's evil tyrant,
The baffling mind flies like an eagle,
And with its talons tears me to the depth.
Nay ! neither I am able to believe nor disbelieve what is revealed to me in in my mind's inner depth,
O enigmatic and strange power with magical might !
You , who appear in the mind in the darkness of the night !
Why do you keep me bound and confused ?
Why have you given me this will ,
That is unable to accept or refuse ?
O almighty power! when the sleepless eyes , the vigilant ears , the baffling mind from what I see, what I know, what I hear
Try to deduce a meaning out of the chaos that startles, creates dismay,
Disrupts thoughts in fear, self-contempt, misery and pain,
Why do you inflict more pangs, more tears, and endless distress in the soul searching freedom from bondage and slavery as a god or a demon trying to free himself in vain ?
O ! as my eyes in this dark wilderness an abysmal chasm survey,
In this world where I am born,
Whirlwinds, storms, blizzards of scorns,
In agony tear and sunder the soul,
I feel tormented and torn.
O who exist beyond light and darkness, night and day !
On this mortal bay,
The hunger, the needs, the piercing cold , frost , heat, wind lash in gusts,
Like an eagle the sun tears the flesh with its beak and searches
The earthly creatures' sweat and blood in the labour and toil
Before devouring the livers and the hearts,
The mortal man cursed from birth,
Groans as an accursed creature bound and thrown from Heaven to the dust.
O light ! Is it your revenge because the promethean creatures wished to revolt against the powers in Heaven ?
O phantasm !
Where reign, triumph, envy, hate like tyrants freed in the heart,
Exalt the spirit of Earth under an unbound universe,
As the needs for survival like the beasts of the instincts drag to the cloven depth of the dark,
I feel alone on Earth.
Alas ! in the life, that seemed like a royal banquet where the knives peeped through the dark,
Altering between favour and fear,
In the heart's poisonous air,
The dunnest feelings like serpents of mischief shot their darts,
The assassinations brought success,
Conspiracies flourished to accomplish conquests,
Compunctions departed the murderous hearts,
The trumpets brayed the sounds of triumphs,
Horses strode,
The men killed other men in cruel strokes,
Disguised in a mask,
Inspired by the treachery and flattery of the heart,
In an undaunted valour man wished to exalt the spirit of the air, Earth and the dust .
Is it therefore you keep Prometheus in chain on Earth?
O omnipotent power ! the man to whom you deliver suffering,
From pain he tries to extract joy,
In ill ends of his thoughts his sense-bound mind its power deploys,
He takes pride in suffering to protest against your
divine ploy.
Look upon this bleeding body !
To prove its strength against God,
Where in frail twigs of thoughts the body clings to the will and thought,
In sufferance and despair he takes upon himself the
punishment of God
In order to bring to the mortals the happiness,
triumph and joy,
In poison and wound,
In howl and cry,
In disdain and hate,
He laughs against Heaven ,
He wishes to revenge against God by defying His power and declaring
Prometheus as the world's master and Lord.
Though fear pierces with its spears,
The hounds of hell wander by in tears,
The awful shadows hunt ,
The invisible images haunt,
In calm fixed mind he defies...
God ...God ....God....!!
