Blindness
Blindness descending with the sexual desire
While the eyes anxious of the fear of being blinded by the very beauty I search,
Gaze in all directions to escape the destiny that lurches,
The faraway sound of the galloping horse
In the distance , murmuring in the air,
Create an uncertain anxiety and fear.
Here, where in the ever open bosom of the earth the passions plunge in the will,
The lights and shadows surround me as a frightened deer standing helpless and still,
Like in a nightmarish dream ,
The treacherous anxieties loosening cascading streams,
In a turbulent wind,
Ensnares the flesh and blood in a battle and a struggle of senses flowing along the spleen.
O angel shining deep in the heart!
O beauty!
Man's suffering's ineffable charge!
Do not blind these eyes where the dreams flush in search of beauty and love.
In this forest on Earth,
Dark chasms of fear threaten me with a darkness that all things engulf.
In this forest I see narrow paths,
Through the dense foliage, where shades of the darkness cloak the silence of the overhanging branches,
And the paths fade in a depth where no human being seemed to have passed,
Leaves plunge from all sides to close the daylight
And wherever I move darkness filters into the eyes.
As I walk, beneath the feet the erring steps fail to follow the relations of time on Earth,
O goddess !
Why do you want to bring upon the curse of blindness on the mortal eyes searching beauty and love?
Around me I hear a confused movements of feet,
As if the beauty , lost in dream's imperceptible mist, is combing through the forest in search of me.
More the sounds come near,
More I struggle with the conflicts of choice between submitting the soul to love's foolish snare that will bring blindness in the sphere,
Or, return to the guide,
Who will show me the path beyond the boundary of the world ,
Where the mortals burn in sense's flare.
As I try to find my way,
In indistinct murmurs of waves,
In my gaze its illusions spread,
As if, asleep in darkness' sphere,
I am awake in a dream where I still happen to see and hear.
Henceforward I see nothing of the path,
Where I have seen the flowers, the grass, the dews scattering light in nature's silvery stares!
In this heart the reality has become one with dream,
And a ruffling wind combusts the mystery in mind's illusory flare.
With the rustling sounds of the leaves,
Where the dead branches crackle under the trampling feet of a steed,
The destiny seems to move near,
I must somehow come out from here!
In the distance as I hear the footsteps,
Apprehend the fear of the hunter prancing as a restless rake,
With sweating feet and palm,
I must hurry to get out of the forest before the destiny fulfils its curse,
In the winding path, where my feet in confusion of the mind twists and turns,
I must ....
O !
Why do you confuse my erring steps?
Why do you beguile me with the beauty that has drawn me to the lake and want to bring upon me such a treacherous blind fate?
O destiny! why do you prevent me to see the path that leads back to the poet?
As I wish to draw back to the place from where I arrive,
Or move forward with a hope to see more light,
Or scan the memories to find out the place from where I have departed the poet,
Or try to see through the inner thoughts the place where he may wait,
The paths in delirium divide,
The anguish and agony spread as a confinement of greater and greater size,
The paths turn into paths ,
Wherever I try to spring,
Binding my feet in invisible multiplicity of rings,
The darkness in darkness twines.
O eyelids! remain open!
O mind! hold courage!
O ears ! Listen!
Are the footsteps approaching from "this" way, or "that" way ?
Are the sounds of the galloping horse closing in, or receding away?
Is it the beauty who approaches , or do I hear the hunter?
The senses seem to give alarm...
I wonder who comes!
Shall I surrender ?
